BCT-LLC is looking for an experienced System Development/Engineer to work in our High Performance Computing Program. The qualified individual must possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph. This position is located in Annapolis Junction, MD.

What you will do:

The System Engineer is responsible for the engineering and technical integrity of work performed and deliverables provided from assigned Systems Engineering tasks. Responsible for creating, sustaining, and troubleshooting complex operational data flows including data storage, data transport, data management, data security, data compliance, and knowledge store management. Coordinate with mission customers to perform exploratory data analysis on raw data to clean, enrich, transform and convert the raw data into the required formats. Apply system technical management, planning, analysis, direction and surveillance over the life cycle of various HPC systems. Ensure technical capabilities, requirements, design, hardware, software, COTS, firmware and technical documentation are controlled under configuration management processes. Identify, coordinate, and control critical system dependencies. Review, assess, and provide recommendations to improve and/or enhance existing HPC configuration control and dependency management processes. Interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts. Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers and technical experts.

Task Description

• Develops, maintains, enhances complex and diverse infrastructure as code systems
• Can work independently as well as with a team to ensure that all components both hardware and software are working
• Metrics/Monitoring to include development and deployment and ability to ensure that operational specifications are met
• Metrics collection and operational support (Splunk/ElasticSearch/TopView/Prometheus/OpenTSDB)
• Experience writing code to include (Python/Perl/C) and other Linux scripting languages
• Experience with ansible/puppet/salt; Unix/Linux
• Analyze user requirements to derive infrastructure as code, metrics collection solutions, high performance data solutions
• Support metrics and monitoring including the ability to fully lifecycle support for Metrics suites COTS and GOTS tools (Splunk/ElasticSearch/TopView). This includes installing, ensuring they are performant and doing data analytics for data coming into system. Could also work with a team to write specialized metrics collection products and ensure that performance is maintained.
• Is familiar with and can perform full life cycle support on CM tools (GIT, GitLab), will act as a configuration manager for infrastructure as code processes.
• Will stay abreast of latest industry trends in both open source and commercial solutions (Hardware and Software). Help determine if and when to incorporate them into an IAC solution.

Qualifications (SE3):

• Twenty (20) years of experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required.
• Bachelors’ degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a Bachelors’ degree.
